Christina is an experienced attorney, having practiced as a litigator for several years in a variety of industries. She now brings years of experience in both the public and private sector to her practice as an independent investigator. She also has specialized training in conducting Title IX investigations and working with children and victims of trauma, including sexual assault.
Prior Experience
Christina McGovern has extensive experience providing advice and counsel regarding employment issues and conducting employment investigations. She worked as counsel for the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor’s County Equity Oversight Panel, where she assessed complaints of employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and equity issues. Additionally, she prepared assessments and classifications of allegations and worked closely with County departments providing advice on diversity program matters, including making recommendations on appropriate disciplinary matters.
Christina also worked for LA County’s Department of Human Resources’ County Equity Investigations Unit as a Deputy Compliance Officer investigating and monitoring compliance and administration of the County’s diversity, equal opportunity, and civil rights-related programs and policies. In this role, Christina conducted thirty to forty employment investigations annually and made presentations to the County Equity Oversight Panel. She also made recommendations to management on issues related to employment discrimination and employee behaviors and advised County executive management regarding policies, plans, and procedures for the implementation of department diversity, equal opportunity, and civil rights-related programs. She regularly reviewed, analyzed, and interpreted State and Federal equal opportunity guidelines and prepared written recommendations to ensure County compliance.
Christina began her career practicing civil litigation at a private firm, including extensive trial work in a variety of practice areas including employment, contract, and constitutional law.
Christina is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators and has provided Mandatory Continuing Legal Education programs for lawyers on best practices in conducting independent employment investigations.
Christina earned a Bachelor of Arts in French Literature from Stanford University. She graduated from Chapman University Dale E. Fowler School of Law where she was a staff contributor of the Nexus Law Journal and member of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Fraternity.
